Jennie started her career in the social science field by earning a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids IA. She entered the profession as a direct care staff serving adolescents in a residential care setting. Jennie continued her professional experience by providing community based services for adults with chronic and severe mental illness. Her goal was to help her clients understand their ongoing diagnosis and develop needed skills and supports that would allow them to lead their best life experiencing wellness & resilience.

Jennie has always had a a deep passion for learning and growth. This led her to continue on her own learning journey to pursue a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mount Mercy University. Lifelong learning and growth are at the core of Jennie's personal and professional values. She has continued to grow in her career as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist  and Registered Play Therapy Supervisor. She has completed advanced trainings in Family Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and reprocessing(EMDR), impact and treatment of trauma, Clinical Supervision, Restorative Practices, and Leadership.

Jennie is an experienced trainer providing expertise in the areas of trauma, resilience, well-being, leadership, clinical supervision, and clinical practice with children, families and adults. Seeing others have a spark of excitement when they learn something new inspires Jennie to continue serving others in her roles as therapist for a small caseload and as the Learning and Development Manager for the Meraki Institute of Learning at Tanager Place.
