About “Bibliotherapy: Using Books in Play Therapy”
Throughout history, stories have been used as a way to make meaning, pass information, and promote development. Bibliotherapy, the use of books within therapeutic context, offers a way to facilitate change within play therapy.
During this training, participants will have an opportunity to add bibliotherapy interventions to their play therapy toolbox and come away with new and useful interventions to work with clients with a variety of presenting problems.
After this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe 2 models of bibliotherapy
- List the benefits and limitations of bibliotherapy
- Demonstrate the use of books to facilitate change in play therapy for a variety of symptoms and presenting problems
